- Do I need an Echo Dot to use my Alex?
Yes. The Alex is an accessory designed specifically to work with the Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation. It is not a stand-alone device and can only be used with the Dot.
- What’s in the box?
Just the Alex and a welcome guide to get you going. Everything you need to connect to your Echo Dot is built-in to Alex. Since your Dot will be powered by the Alex, you can use your Dot power cord as the charging cord for your Alex.
- How do I pair my Dot with Alex?
Unplug your Echo Dot. Nest your Dot into the top of the Alex, then plug the micro-USB into Dot. When you need to recharge your Alex, you can use your Amazon Echo Dot charging cable. Enjoy!
- Can I charge my Alex with 3rd party charging cables?
We highly recommend the Alex is charged using the Amazon Echo Dot charging cable that was provided when you purchased your Dot. We do not recommend using 3rd party chargers, as we cannot guarantee that other chargers will work with Alex. To ensure a full charge every time, make sure to use the Amazon Echo Dot charging cable.
- Can I use my Alex outside?
Alex is not water-proof or water-resistant, so you want to make sure that if you use it outside on your patio, it is placed in a dry area.
- Can my Alex be used while charging?
Absolutely. And once you are fully charged, continue to use your Alex plugged in or cord-free.
- How long does it take to charge my Alex?
Charging Alex when not in use will take about 7-8 hours. If you are using your Alex as it is charging, it will take about 8-12 hours. When fully charged, Alex battery run-time is about of 12 hours ( play time ) , more than 12 hours if Echo dot is just in standby mode. The LED light on the front of the Alex will indicate it’s current state.
- Why isn’t my Alex working?
The micro-USB connections are secure between the Dot and the Alex? Is your Alex turned on ( LED light is turned on ) ? Is your Alex charged? Is your Alex within range of the wifi network that the Dot was linked to? If you have checked all of the above and Alex still isn’t working, please contact below and leave your order number.
